First Graduation Ceremony of the Master's Programme in Medical Physics (ICTP/University of Trieste)
The IAEA supports the Master's Programme in Medical Physics (MMP), run jointly by ICTP and the University of Trieste. The two-year programme includes one year of basic and advanced courses followed by a year of clinical training in a medical physics department of a hospital. The MMP programme is based on IAEA medical physics education and clinical training material.
Through the interregional technical cooperation project INT/6/057 “Establishing a Joint IAEA/ICTP International Post-Graduate Medical Physics Education Programme”, the IAEA supports a total of 6 and 18 fellows for the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 academic years, respectively. In addition, 3 fellows who have successfully completed the MMP programme in December 2015 will be supported for a 2-nd year clinical training in a hospital in 2016.
The first MPP graduates (thirteen students) were the first to receive a Master's in Medical Physics. A ceremony honoring their achievements was held on Friday 11 December in the ICTP Budinich Lecture Hall.
