Guidelines in Radioguided Surgery

PDFThe EANM clinical and technical guidelines for lymphoscintigraphy and sentinel node localization in gynaecological cancers  (2014)

The accurate harvesting of a sentinel node in gynaecological cancer (i.e. vaginal, vulvar, cervical, endometrial or ovarian cancer) includes a sequence of procedures with components from different medical specialities (nuclear medicine, radiology, surgical oncology and pathology). The final result has been discussed by a group of distinguished experts from the EANM Oncology Committee and the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO). The document has been endorsed by the SNMMI Board.

PDFThe EANM and SNMMI practice guideline for lymphoscintigraphy and sentinel node localization in breast cancer procedure (2013)

This document provides general information about scintigraphic detection of sentinel node in breast cancer. The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) and the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) have written and approved these guidelines to promote the use of nuclear medicine procedures with high quality. The final result has been discussed by distinguished experts from the EANM Oncology Committee, the SNMMI and the European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO).

PDF(EANM) Joint Practice Guidelines for Radionuclide Lymphoscintigraphy for Sentinel Node Localization in Oral/Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) (2009)

These guidelines were prepared by a multidisciplinary surgical/nuclear medicine/pathology expert panel under the joint auspices of the EANM Oncology Committee and the Sentinel European Node Trial Committee. The aim of this review is to provide evidence-based guidelines for the use of sentinel node biopsy as a staging tool in patients with early OSCC. 99mTc-labelled colloid pharmaceuticals are used as for LS in breast cancer and melanoma.

PDFEANM-EORTC General Recommendations for Sentinel Node Diagnostics in Melanoma (2009)

The document was prepared by a multidisciplinary, international working group comprising scientists and clinicians from many different European and other countries, all with sub-speciality expertise within the different fields involved in sentinel node diagnostics. It outlines recommendations for sentinel node diagnostics for optimal staging in melanoma patients without known clinical dissemination. The radiopharmaceuticals commonly used are 99mTc-labelled colloids as for LS in breast cancer.

PDFSNM Procedure Guideline for Lymphoscintigraphy and the Use of Intraoperative Gamma Probe for Sentinel Lymph Node Localization in Melanoma (2002)

The purpose of this guideline is to assist nuclear medicine practitioners in recommending, performing, interpreting, and reporting the results of lymphoscintigraphy for identifying sentinel lymph nodes for excisional biopsy in patients with melanoma and the use of the intraoperative gamma probe in the operating room.
