Nuclear medicine applications in paediatrics include an extended list of procedures with proven clinical efficacy. However, most commonly used techniques are applied for evaluation of obstructive renal disease or infection and its consequences, skeletal diseases, digestive tract disorders, and to a lesser extent other conditions such as oncologic, neurologic, or endocrine. Nuclear techniques are safe, non-invasive, well tolerated and associated with low irradiation burden, and are usually applied without the need for anaesthesia or other additional manouvers.
